Jess Thorup, Al Ahly’s new Danish head coach, spoke openly about his pride in joining Egypt’s most successful football team and his eagerness to achieve glory.

At today’s press conference, Thorup said, “I am extremely happy. Many of the club’s officials are former footballers, and I had a valuable talk with President Mahmoud El Khatib, who, like me, was a striker. We discussed several team matters.”

He emphasized, “I’ve learned a lot about Al Ahly, and I know this club only plays to win. I share that vision and will do everything I can to further the club’s legacy.”

Thorup will work with five assistants, all united around one goal: “Victory and winning trophies is the true meaning of football.” His experience at top European clubs, including the Bundesliga, taught him to thrive under pressure.

He also reflected on meeting Egyptian players abroad and feeling Al Ahly’s 70 million supporters, even at Cairo Airport. Director of football Walid Salah stressed that the club picked Thorup for his proven trophy record, tactical flexibility, and strong personality, asking for fan patience as the new coach implements his ideas
