Jeremy Jacquet blown away by Liverpool’s facilities after sealing Anfield switch

Liverpool’s state-of-the-art training facilities left the biggest impression on new signing Jérémy Jacquet after the French defender completed his £60 million move from Stade Rennais F.C..

The 20-year-old admitted he immediately felt at home after arriving on Merseyside, revealing that his first glimpse of the club’s setup only reinforced his belief that Liverpool is the right place to continue his development.

“I feel really good, the first impressions are good and I am very happy to start here. I’m very happy. When I see the facilities, I can see myself here. I feel good here and I am very excited to get started.”

His enthusiastic reaction will delight Liverpool supporters, who are eager to see one of France’s brightest young defenders begin life at Anfield.

Long-awaited move finally completed

Liverpool reached an agreement to sign Jacquet during the January transfer window but allowed him to remain with Rennes until the end of the 2025-26 season at the French club’s request.

The second half of his campaign was disrupted by a shoulder injury that ruled him out of the 2026 World Cup with France. Despite that setback, the centre-back successfully passed his medical and has now officially completed his long-awaited switch to the Premier League.

Jacquet arrives as Liverpool prepare for the departure of French international Ibrahima Konaté, who has agreed to join Real Madrid C.F. on a free transfer.

Ready for a new challenge

The highly rated defender is expected to challenge for a regular role under new manager Andoni Iraola and could eventually partner club captain Virgil van Dijk in central defence.

Having impressed during two seasons in Ligue 1, Jacquet is regarded as one of France’s most promising defensive talents, with Liverpool investing heavily in his long-term potential.

He will join his new teammates for pre-season later this month before Liverpool begin their tour of the United States, where matches against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds United await.
