Karim Adeyemi’s post-match session paused by Barcelona footwear warning
Barcelona forward Karim Adeyemi was briefly sent back to the dressing room by fitness coach Pepe Conde after arriving for additional post-match training in flip-flops rather than football boots.
The unusual moment followed Barcelona’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano and was captured by DAZN’s television cameras. Adeyemi, 25, had been required to complete extra work after the match as part of the programme designed for substitutes and players who had received limited playing time.
As the Germany international approached Conde to join the session, the coach quickly noticed that Adeyemi was not wearing suitable footwear for training. Conde gave the forward a light reprimand before instructing him to return to the dressing room and change into sports shoes.
The exchange took place in front of Barcelona players Gerard Martin and Eric Garcia. Adeyemi and Conde spoke briefly before the forward promptly left the pitch to follow the coach’s instructions.
The interruption lasted only a few minutes. Adeyemi returned once he had put on the correct footwear and joined his team-mates in the planned exercises, with no further issue reported.
The additional work is part of Barcelona’s physical-conditioning routine after matches. It is particularly aimed at players who did not feature or who played only a small number of minutes, allowing them to maintain their fitness and compensate for the greater physical workload carried by those who took part in the game.
Adeyemi’s brief footwear mix-up therefore caused no lasting disruption to the session, although it provided an unexpected moment for the television audience. The forward was able to complete the work after making the required change, following Conde’s reminder that the correct equipment was needed for the exercises to be carried out properly and safely.
