Jeremie Frimpong shares plans to visit Ghana for the first time

Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong has expressed his intention to visit Ghana, the country of his parents’ origin, for the first time.

The 24-year-old, who was born in the Netherlands to Ghanaian parents, represents the Dutch national team after Ghana’s Football Association was unsuccessful in persuading him to play for the Black Stars.

Frimpong is regarded as one of the top performers in his position and has enjoyed significant success with Bayer Leverkusen in recent seasons.

Speaking to Germany-based Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba, Frimpong highlighted the importance of his Ghanaian heritage.

My parents are Ghanaian, and yeah, so every time I speak with my parents, it’s Twi.

They taught me the language, so when I’m home, I speak Twi with them, he said during the interview.

Despite his close ties to Ghana through language and family, Frimpong revealed that he has yet to visit the West African country.

No, I have never been to Ghana before, but I will go,” he stated, expressing his determination to make the trip soon.

In addition to his connection to Ghana, the dynamic full-back shared insights into his music preferences.

While he enjoys music from both Ghanaian and Nigerian artists, he admitted to being particularly drawn to the latter.

Both [I listen to Ghanaian and Nigerian music], but Nigerian music is top; they have too many good musicians,” Frimpong remarked.

Frimpong’s career trajectory has earned him accolades, with his performances in the Bundesliga solidifying his status as one of Europe’s best young talents in his role.

As he continues to excel on the pitch, his plans to visit Ghana mark a personal milestone in reconnecting with his roots.

The revelation underscores the blend of cultural pride and professional achievement that defines Frimpong’s journey, resonating with fans from both his ancestral and adopted nations.

His visit to Ghana, when it happens, will undoubtedly be a significant moment for the player and his supporters alike.
