Jeremie Frimpong reveals special bond with Florian Wirtz after Liverpool move

​Jeremie Frimpong has shared how special it feels to arrive at Liverpool alongside close friend Florian Wirtz, something he believes “doesn’t happen often” in football.

The pair completed their moves from Bayer Leverkusen in the same transfer window, turning a friendship forged in Germany into a new chapter together at Anfield.

Frimpong explained that their connection began soon after he joined Leverkusen, growing quickly as they settled into life at the club and even lived near each other. “He joined Leverkusen a few months before me but we were both still new. In Germany, he lived close to me as well,” the defender recalled, highlighting how shared experiences off the pitch strengthened their bond.

The Dutch international admitted he was thrilled when he learned Liverpool were also targeting Wirtz. Moving with a trusted friend has helped make the transition smoother, both personally and professionally, as they adapt to a new league, new teammates and the expectations at Anfield.
