Jean Michaël Seri has finalized his transfer from Hull City to Al Orobah FC in Saudi Arabia, opting to leave European football with one year remaining on his contract. The 33-year-old Ivorian midfielder, who clinched the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 2023, has decided to embark on this new chapter in his career for both personal and professional reasons.
In an interview with 225foot, Seri elaborated on his decision to relocate, stating, “After winning the AFCON in my country, I needed to take a new step.
Sportingly, I feel like I have done my homework. I made the decision to join Saudi Arabia for personal and family reasons while enjoying playing football.”
Seri, who honed his skills at the prestigious Africa Sports academy in Abidjan, leaves behind the English Championship to embrace a fresh challenge in Saudi Arabia’s football scene.
Under the guidance of Portuguese coach Álvaro Pacheco, Seri will leverage his decade of experience as he joins Al Orobah FC.
This move represents a significant transition from the English second tier to a burgeoning football environment in the Middle East.
With his departure from Hull City, Seri’s career now shifts focus as he aims to contribute his expertise and leadership to his new club, reflecting his desire for a balanced blend of personal fulfillment and professional growth.
