Ghanaian Midfielder James Bissue Joins Montreal Impact Ahead of MLS Debut
Ghanaian midfielder James Bissue is set to make his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut this season after signing with Canadian club Montreal Impact. The club announced Bissue’s arrival just before the MLS roster deadline, confirming the midfielder’s transfer from Hearts of Oak.
Assistant coach Mauro Biello expressed optimism about the new signing, saying, “We’ve been monitoring him for a while, but it’s been delayed because of visas and everything else. He’s going to add depth to the team and he’s a guy who’s a bit like Gershon Koffie in Vancouver.”
Bissue, who most recently played for Accra Hearts of Oak FC in Ghana’s Premier League, also has experience with Sekondi Eleven Wise. His professional career began in the Israeli Premier League during the 2009-2010 season.
On the international stage, Bissue has represented Ghana at youth levels, earning five caps for the U20 national team, including participation at the 2011 U20 Africa Cup of Nations held in South Africa. He has also played for Ghana’s U17 team, underscoring his potential and pedigree.
The Montreal Impact hope Bissue’s arrival will bolster their midfield options as they compete in MLS this season.
