Jacques Anouma, in his pursuit of recognition after being excluded from the race for the chair of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) president, has achieved a preliminary victory. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed its jurisdiction to hear Anouma’s appeal against the decision to deem his candidacy inadmissible. The CAS, however, did not grant interim measures, such as suspending the CAF electoral process or including Anouma’s name on the list of contenders for the CAF presidential chair. The dispute arose when CAF invalidated Jacques Anouma’s candidacy during a congress, leaving Issa Hayatou as the sole candidate for the presidency. The CAS is set to conduct a trial between Anouma and CAF in the coming weeks.
