Jackson Muleka, the Congolese striker currently on loan to Saudi Pro League side Al-Kholood, could soon make a return to European football.
The 25-year-old, originally from Lubumbashi, has attracted interest from French Ligue 1 club FC Nantes and Belgium’s Cercle Brugge, a team he previously faced during his stint at Standard Liège.
Muleka’s time in the Saudi Pro League has been underwhelming, with just two goals and two assists since joining Al-Kholood.
The club, currently languishing in 15th place in the standings, has struggled to capitalize on his talents.
Despite his limited impact, the forward remains an appealing prospect for European sides seeking to bolster their attacking options.
Having established himself as a promising talent in Turkey’s Süper Lig during his time with Kasımpaşa, Muleka earned a high-profile move to Beşiktaş Istanbul in the summer of 2022.
The Turkish giants secured his services for approximately €4 million, signing him to a five-year contract.
However, fierce competition within the squad significantly limited his playing time, curtailing his ability to maintain his earlier form.
Now, with Beşiktaş aiming to streamline its roster and reduce its foreign player count, the Turkish club is reportedly keen to offload Muleka during the January transfer window.
The Congolese striker’s valuation has been set at €7 million, and clubs such as FC Nantes and Clermont Foot in France have expressed interest in acquiring him.
A return to Belgium is also on the table, with Cercle Brugge monitoring the situation.
Muleka previously showcased his skills in the Jupiler Pro League during his tenure with Standard Liège, and a move back to familiar territory could provide the stability needed to reignite his career.
For Al-Kholood, Muleka’s modest contributions have failed to address their struggles in the Saudi Pro League, a competition that continues to grapple with limited appeal in Western markets.
As a result, his departure could be a logical step for both the club and the player, offering him the chance to reclaim playing time and visibility in a more competitive European environment.
At 25, Muleka remains at a critical juncture in his career.
A move back to Europe would provide him with an opportunity to rebuild his reputation and return to the form that once made him one of Africa’s most promising forwards.
