Ivory Coast’s Parfait Guiagon enjoying breakout season with Charleroi

Parfait Guiagon has hit a career high this season with Royal Charleroi SC, producing standout performances that have made the Ivorian midfielder one of the most reliable figures in the Belgian Pro League.

The 24-year-old reached a personal milestone by netting his sixth goal in the playoff stages, despite Charleroi’s recent defeat to FCV Dender.

That goal marked the most productive season of his professional career, surpassing the five-goal tally he achieved last year, also with Charleroi.

Guiagon’s resurgence is not just about goals. His current form reflects a consistency and influence that were once only hinted at in previous campaigns.

A regular starter throughout the season, he has amassed 1,993 minutes in the regular league fixtures. This surpasses the 1,804 minutes he recorded while playing in Israel during the 2020 to 2021 season.

With 299 additional minutes already logged in the playoffs, his durability and importance to Charleroi’s tactical setup are beyond question.

For Charleroi, Guiagon’s rise has come at an ideal moment. In a season marked by instability and fluctuating results, his presence has offered a rare sense of reliability.

The midfielder’s ability to maintain rhythm over the course of a demanding campaign has earned the trust of the coaching staff and made him a pivotal part of the squad’s core structure.

His versatility on the field has also contributed to his upward trajectory. Comfortable in multiple midfield roles, Guiagon has showcased an ability to adapt to the demands of each match, whether anchoring the midfield or pushing forward to join attacking movements. This flexibility, paired with his increasing output, has not gone unnoticed.

A native of Logoualé in western Ivory Coast, Guiagon’s journey to this breakthrough moment has taken him from the Israeli Liga Leumit to the more competitive and visible Belgian top flight.

Now, with consistent minutes and goal contributions under his belt, the midfielder finds himself on the radar of clubs with greater ambition.

Charleroi, of course, remain eager to retain his services. The club has been a nurturing ground for Guiagon’s development, and his evolution into a key figure has been mutually beneficial.

But the growing attention around him suggests that this season may well be the beginning of a new chapter. It could be one in which the Ivorian playmaker is set for a move up the European football ladder.

While speculation about his future is likely to intensify as the summer window approaches, Guiagon remains focused on the present.

With Charleroi still battling through the playoff rounds, he continues to demonstrate the maturity and commitment that have underpinned his remarkable year.

Whether or not a transfer materialises in the months to come, one fact is clear: Parfait Guiagon has etched his name into Charleroi’s 2024 to 2025 season not just as a contributor, but as a standout performer. For the Ivorian international, this campaign has already entered the books as a turning point and potentially a springboard to bigger stages.
