Ivory Coast’s Jérémie Boga targeted by Trabzonspor in summer transfer move

Trabzonspor have stepped up their pursuit of Jérémie Boga, with the Turkish club reportedly making a formal approach to sign the OGC Nice winger on loan with an option to buy.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomaç, officials at the Süper Lig side have intensified negotiations in recent days, proposing a deal that would see the Ivorian international join on a season-long loan, with a €10 million purchase clause attached.

Discussions between the clubs are said to be progressing, with a resolution possible in the coming days.

Boga, 27, has struggled for consistent minutes at Nice this season, making 24 appearances across all competitions but amassing just 1,196 minutes of playing time.

Despite contributing three goals and one assist, the former Atalanta and Sassuolo forward has found himself increasingly on the fringes under manager Francesco Farioli.

The Ivorian, who began his career at Chelsea before establishing himself in Italy, is understood to be open to a move that would offer him a more prominent role.

A switch to Turkey could provide the opportunity for a fresh start and more regular football, particularly as Trabzonspor look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Nice’s management is reportedly receptive to Boga’s potential departure, especially given his limited impact this term. With three years still remaining on his contract—set to expire in June 2027—the French club appears willing to negotiate a transfer under terms that align with their financial and sporting objectives.

Trabzonspor are not alone in tracking the winger. Domestic rivals Beşiktaş are also believed to be monitoring Boga’s situation and could make a competing offer if the proposed move gathers pace.

However, at this stage, Trabzonspor are viewed as the front-runners, having already made direct contact and tabled a structured proposal.

Boga is currently valued at €10 million on Transfermarkt, a figure that aligns with the purchase option suggested in Trabzonspor’s offer. While the valuation reflects his recent form and reduced role at Nice, it also underlines the financial commitment any suitor will have to make should they wish to secure his services permanently.

Financially, the winger commands an annual salary of €2.78 million at Nice, a figure Trabzonspor would need to accommodate, either in full or through a shared payment arrangement during the loan period.

That element of the deal is likely to form part of the ongoing discussions between the clubs and the player’s representatives.

A move to Turkey would mark the latest chapter in Boga’s diverse career, which has seen him play in England, Spain, France, and Italy.

Despite fluctuating fortunes in recent seasons, he remains a player with the technical ability and flair to make a significant impact in the right environment.

With pre-season preparations looming and Trabzonspor eager to reinforce their squad, Boga’s future could be resolved swiftly. For now, the Turkish side appears determined to win the race for his signature and provide him with the platform to reignite his career.
