Yaya Touré Undergoes Treatment in Doha Ahead of World Cup
Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Touré is currently receiving treatment in Doha after sustaining a minor thigh injury, which has kept him out of his national team’s training camp in Dallas ahead of the World Cup.
The Manchester City star, who finished as the Premier League’s top scorer this season, is dealing with a small tear in his thigh muscle. However, the midfielder remains optimistic about his recovery.
Speaking to RFI, Touré said: “Everything went well with the doctors. They did a great job. It’s complicated with this kind of injury, but I’ll be back on the pitch soon.”
Despite the setback, there are no major concerns about Touré’s fitness ahead of the tournament. Sources close to the Ivory Coast camp confirmed that he is expected to join his teammates in Dallas on May 29 as preparations continue for the World Cup in Brazil.
The Elephants will be hoping their talismanic midfielder is fit and ready to lead the team when the tournament kicks off, as they look to make a strong impact on football’s biggest stage.
