Kader Keita Makes Career Comeback with Budapest Honvéd
Former Ivorian international Kader Keita is set to relaunch his career after signing a contract with Hungarian club Budapest Honvéd. The 33-year-old winger, who has been without a club since his contract was terminated in the Gulf, is ready for a fresh start with the Hungarian side, where he will play until June 2015.
Keita, known for his speed and flair on the field, had previously enjoyed a successful career in several top leagues. He first gained widespread attention during his time at Galatasaray in Turkey, where he was signed for €8.5 million in 2009. Under the guidance of coach Franck Rijkaard, Keita quickly became a fan favorite, thanks to his impressive performances and contributions in attack.
After his time at Galatasaray, Keita moved to Al Sadd in Doha for the same fee of €8.5 million, returning to the club he had left in 2005. His time in Qatar was marked by success, including winning the 2011 Asian Champions League, where he played alongside notable players such as Nadir Belhadj and Mamadou Niang, with a victory over Chonbuk Hyundai Motors.
However, following his triumph in Asia, Keita parted ways with Al Sadd in 2012 and explored various options, including a brief trial with MLS side Philadelphia Union in 2013. Despite his high-profile career, Keita has also made headlines for his off-field controversies, the latest of which saw him face legal issues.
Now, with his move to Budapest Honvéd, Keita hopes to leave his troubled past behind and focus on his footballing future. Fans will be hoping the veteran winger can rediscover his form and bring his experience and skills to Hungary’s top flight.
