The Ivory Coast national football team, gearing up for crucial encounters against Benin and Uruguay, has undergone another alteration in its lineup, marking the fourth change in Emerse Faé’s selection ahead of the upcoming matches.
Following earlier substitutions involving Seko Fofana, Ibrahim Sangaré, and Evan Ndicka, Mohamed Koné, the 22-year-old goalkeeper from USL Dunkerque, has been called up to replace veteran Badra Ali Sangaré, as confirmed by Le Kpakpato Sportif.
The change in personnel, made position for position, comes as a result of Sangaré’s absence due to administrative reasons, according to the same source.
Mohamed Koné’s inclusion marks a significant return to the national setup after a hiatus of one and a half years.
Despite previous call-ups in March, June, and September 2022, the young goalkeeper is yet to make his debut for the senior team.
With this opportunity, Koné aims to make his mark and potentially secure his maiden appearance in international football.
Joining his teammates in Roissy-en-France for the final training sessions at the Stade Intercommunal du Servois before departing for Amiens, Koné’s arrival adds depth to the squad ahead of the crucial fixtures.
Meanwhile, Charles Foly, the goalkeeper from ASEC Mimosas, is expected to join the group by Friday, ensuring full squad availability for the upcoming matches.
These fixtures mark the first outings for the Ivorian team since their triumphant victory at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held on home soil in February.
With momentum on their side, the Elephants are determined to maintain their winning streak and secure positive results to solidify their position in international football.
As anticipation builds for the forthcoming matches, Ivory Coast fans eagerly await the team’s performance on the pitch.
Le gardien Badra Ali est finalement remplacé par Mohamed Koné qui était à côté chez les U23. Son grand frère Folly Charles est encore à la maison à Port-Bouet, il viendra au plus tard vendredi en France.
