Yacine Idriss Diallo urges national unity as Ivory Coast target 2026 World Cup
Yacine Idriss Diallo has called for national unity as Ivory Coast national football team intensify preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
The president of the Ivorian Football Federation delivered the message during a gathering marking four years of the federation’s current leadership, urging widespread support for the national team as they aim to leave a lasting mark on the global stage.
Ivory Coast are approaching the tournament with ambition, with the executive committee emphasising the importance of collective mobilisation.
The Elephants are seeking to build momentum well before the competition begins, with unity viewed as a key factor in achieving their objectives.
Addressing attendees at the event, Diallo made a direct appeal to the nation. “We wish to launch a solemn appeal for the sacred union of all Ivorians and all inhabitants of Ivory Coast around the Elephants.”
His remarks underlined the federation’s intention to foster a sense of shared purpose, not only during the tournament itself but throughout the preparation period leading up to it.
The leadership believes that a unified environment could strengthen the team’s performance and confidence on the international stage.
The call for unity was reinforced by the presence of government representatives at the ceremony.
The Minister of Sports offered assurances that the national team would continue to receive backing from state authorities and the highest levels of leadership.
“Convey to our boys the message of confidence and high esteem from all Ivorians and their first captain, the President of the Republic.
Tell them that they have the profile, that they have the performance .”
The statement reflects a broader effort to align both sporting and institutional support behind the team as preparations gather pace.
With expectations building, the federation is keen to ensure that players feel backed at every level.
As the 2026 World Cup approaches, Ivory Coast are positioning themselves not only as participants but as a team determined to achieve a memorable campaign.
The emphasis on unity signals a strategic approach that places collective belief at the centre of their ambitions.
