Ivorian winger Yan Diomandé attracts interest from AS Monaco after breakout season

Ivorian winger Yan Diomandé has emerged as a target for AS Monaco following a string of impressive performances for CD Leganés in La Liga.

The 18-year-old only joined the Spanish club in January 2025, but his rapid progression and eye-catching displays have already put him on the radar of top European sides.

After making his senior debut late in the 2024–25 campaign, Diomandé quickly made an impact with two goals and one assist in ten league appearances.

Despite limited minutes, he showed composure, speed, and creativity—key traits that drew immediate attention from Monaco’s scouting department.

AS Monaco are believed to have initiated early contact over a potential transfer. The Ligue 1 side, known for nurturing young talent, see Diomandé as a promising addition to a squad set to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

With his contract at Leganés running until June 2027, Monaco would likely need to present a strong financial package to persuade the Spanish side to sell.

Leganés, who signed Diomandé in January, have been pleased with the winger’s development and are reportedly reluctant to lose him so soon.

The club had only just begun integrating him into the first team, starting with a high-profile appearance against Real Madrid.

His quick adaptation to top-flight football and consistent performances have made him one of their most valued young assets.

Diomandé, originally from Abidjan, has shown a level of maturity beyond his years. At just 18, he demonstrated the ability to compete against some of the league’s strongest defences, offering glimpses of the potential that clubs like Monaco hope to unlock further.

Though his market value is currently estimated at €1.5 million, Leganés may demand significantly more to part with the player, especially in the current climate of rising transfer fees for young prospects.

There’s also the potential of including future sell-on clauses, given Diomandé’s trajectory and the possibility of a lucrative resale in the coming years.

From a player perspective, a move to Monaco could represent a crucial step forward. The club provides a strong developmental platform in a competitive league and offers regular European competition—an appealing combination for a rising talent looking to expand his profile on the continental stage.

Diomandé’s next move will be watched closely, not only by Monaco and Leganés supporters but by observers across Europe monitoring the rise of yet another promising Ivorian footballer.

With negotiations likely to intensify over the coming weeks, the outcome could shape the next chapter in a career that’s only just beginning.
