Ivorian winger Jérémie Boga turns down Trabzonspor offer in favour of Sporting ambitions

Ivorian winger Jérémie Boga turns down Trabzonspor offer in favour of sporting ambitions

Jérémie Boga has rejected a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor, despite the club’s attractive salary offer, choosing instead to focus on sporting competitiveness in the next step of his career.

According to Ouest-France, the 28-year-old Ivorian international has taken time to carefully consider Trabzonspor’s approach but ultimately decided not to accept the proposal.

The decision brings an end to the Turkish club’s pursuit of the former Chelsea and Atalanta winger, who remains under contract until June 2027.

Boga, who has spent his career in some of Europe’s top leagues, appears more focused on joining a team with strong competitive prospects.

Despite the financial advantages that a move to Türkiye might have provided, the player is said to be prioritising sporting opportunities over economic gain as he weighs up his next destination.

Among the clubs still monitoring his situation is English Championship side Leeds United. While no formal offer has been submitted, Leeds could emerge as a serious contender should they choose to make their interest concrete in the coming days.

The allure of a potential promotion push in one of Europe’s most demanding leagues may appeal to Boga’s ambition to remain at a high level.

Currently earning an annual salary of €2.78 million, Boga’s financial expectations are unlikely to be a major obstacle for clubs in England or other top leagues.

His recent rejection of Trabzonspor’s offer highlights his commitment to securing a move based on footballing merit rather than monetary incentives.

Boga’s career has taken him across several prominent European clubs. After rising through the youth ranks at Chelsea, he went on to play for Sassuolo and Atalanta in Italy, where he developed a reputation as a dynamic, pacey winger capable of unlocking defences.

Known for his dribbling, agility, and ability to operate across the front line, the Ivorian has regularly been linked with moves to clubs competing at the top level.

Though a transfer this summer remains on the cards, the immediate future of the player is still uncertain.

With Trabzonspor now out of the picture, the attention shifts to whether clubs like Leeds United or others across Europe will step up their efforts to secure his signature.

As the transfer window continues, Jérémie Boga remains one of the more intriguing attacking options on the market.

His blend of experience and technical flair makes him a valuable asset, and his insistence on prioritising the sporting project will no doubt appeal to clubs seeking committed professionals with a winning mindset.

For now, Boga’s next destination remains open — but one thing is clear: his decision to reject Trabzonspor sends a message that for him, footballing ambition takes precedence over financial reward.
