Ivorian winger Jérémie Boga set for Trabzonspor loan move from Nice

Jérémie Boga is on the verge of completing a move to Turkey after OGC Nice and Trabzonspor reached an agreement over a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Negotiations between the two clubs have reportedly advanced to their final stages, with only minor details left before the transfer becomes official.

The 28-year-old Ivorian winger is expected to join the Turkish side on a loan deal that includes a €3 million fee, with Trabzonspor retaining an option to make the move permanent for €7.5 million.

This arrangement comes after Trabzonspor initially balked at Nice’s asking price of €15 million. The Ligue 1 club eventually softened their stance, allowing both sides to find common ground.

With personal terms not expected to pose any obstacle, Boga’s switch to the Süper Lig now appears imminent.

Should the deal go through, the move would mark another chapter in Boga’s well-travelled career. A product of Chelsea’s youth academy, the Ivorian international also had spells with Rennes, Sassuolo, and Atalanta before joining Nice in 2023.

While his time on the Côte d’Azur has not quite hit the heights anticipated, the former Serie A standout has still demonstrated flashes of the dynamic ability that once made him one of Europe’s most coveted wide attackers.

In the 2023–2024 season, Boga made 24 appearances in all competitions for Nice, scoring three goals and registering one assist. Despite being limited to a rotation role for much of the campaign, his pace and dribbling remained assets in the attacking third.

Under contract with Nice until June 2027, Boga earns an annual salary of €2.78 million. His current market valuation on Transfermarkt stands at €10 million.

Given Trabzonspor’s ambitions to strengthen their squad for a renewed push in domestic and continental competitions, the potential addition of an experienced and skilful winger like Boga aligns with their recruitment goals.

For the player, the loan represents a chance to revitalise his career in a competitive environment. Trabzonspor, known for their passionate supporters and rich footballing tradition, offers a stage where Boga can return to consistent top-level football and potentially secure a long-term stay, should his performances warrant a permanent move.

Boga’s prospective arrival in Turkey adds another layer of intrigue to Trabzonspor’s summer business. The club has been active in the transfer market and continues to strengthen under the direction of head coach Abdullah Avcı.

The Ivorian’s versatility on the left flank, coupled with his experience across multiple top European leagues, could prove invaluable as the club targets success in the Süper Lig and potential qualification for European competitions.

Pending final confirmation, Boga’s move is expected to be announced in the coming days. If completed, the loan will provide both the player and Trabzonspor with an opportunity to reignite their ambitions for the season ahead.
