Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim hailed the performance of Ivorian winger Amad Diallo following his influential display in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

The 23-year-old, deployed in a wing-back role, created Bryan Mbeumo’s opener and stood out as one of United’s most dynamic players on the night.

The Côte d’Ivoire international has grown in stature under Amorim, blending attacking flair with defensive discipline.

His performance against Liverpool not only underlined his versatility but also reaffirmed his place as a key figure in United’s evolving system.

“Amad is doing so well in that position. He’s perfect for that position,” Amorim said.

“He was upset when I made a sub, but he was on a yellow card, and it was a lot of man-to-man on the side, so it was just about that.

“If not, he would continue with the game because he is so important for us.”

The United boss also revealed that the Ivorian had recently faced a personal setback, saying, “He has struggled for a few weeks (with his bereavement), but we are here for him and that’s the most important thing.”

Amad’s creativity and tireless energy set the tone for United’s pressing game, while goalkeeper Senne Lammens was equally instrumental, pulling off crucial saves to preserve the lead.

Amorim acknowledged both players’ contributions, adding that moments of fortune—such as Liverpool hitting the post twice—did not diminish the team’s effort and resilience.

“I think that was the biggest win in my time at Manchester United,” Amorim concluded. “It means a lot today but tomorrow it won’t mean a lot. It’s three points and it’s a good victory.”
