Ivorian international Sebastien Haller is reportedly set to stay at Borussia Dortmund for the 2025/26 football season.
The forward, who is under contract with the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2026, spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Now back in Germany, Dortmund are weighing their options regarding the 30-year-old’s future.
According to Sport Bild, two possible paths are being considered by the club. The first option is to offload Haller permanently to free up his €10 million annual salary. However, no concrete transfer interest has materialised so far.
The second and more likely scenario is that new head coach Niko Kovac, who previously worked with Haller during their time at Eintracht Frankfurt, will reintegrate the striker into the squad as a backup to lead forward Serhou Guirassy.
Reports suggest that Haller is in strong physical condition and highly motivated to make a fresh impact at the club after overcoming health setbacks in recent years.
Sources have revealed the most likely outcome is that Haller will stay at Dortmund to serve as a backup for Guirassy.
