Ivorian striker Sébastien Haller attracts interest from Ligue 1 as Borussia Dortmund exit looms

Sébastien Haller appears to be edging closer to a departure from Borussia Dortmund, with several clubs expressing interest in securing the Ivorian striker’s services ahead of the summer transfer window.

After a turbulent season marked by limited opportunities and unfulfilled potential, the 29-year-old forward is reportedly no longer part of Dortmund’s long-term plans.

With just one year remaining on his current contract, the Bundesliga side is open to offers, sparking speculation about a possible return to Ligue 1.

French club Lille has entered into discussions to explore the possibility of signing Haller.

The northern outfit views the former West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt striker as a potential asset in their attacking setup, and talks have already begun.

However, financial considerations could complicate the deal.

Haller’s estimated annual salary of €10 million presents a significant hurdle for clubs operating with tighter wage structures.

That has opened the door for other potential suitors, including Al Qadsiah of Saudi Arabia, who are reportedly prepared to offer the Ivorian forward an even more lucrative deal.

Despite the financial incentive, sources close to the player suggest that he is not inclined to make a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Elsewhere, Turkish side Samsunspor are also believed to be monitoring the striker’s situation closely.

Though no formal agreement has been reached, negotiations are said to be ongoing, with the club considering a bid depending on how talks with Lille develop.

The Ivorian’s form over the past season has been mixed.

During a brief loan stint at Leganés, Haller featured in nine matches without finding the back of the net.

A subsequent move to Dutch side Utrecht proved more fruitful, where he registered six goals and one assist across 18 appearances.

Once a standout performer in the Eredivisie and a Champions League scorer with Ajax and Dortmund, Haller’s stock has declined significantly in recent months.

According to Transfermarkt, he is now valued at just €3 million—down from the peak of his career.

Despite the challenges, the striker’s profile continues to attract attention across Europe, and a transfer appears increasingly inevitable.

Whether it will be a return to France or a new challenge elsewhere remains to be seen, but the upcoming window could mark a critical turning point in Haller’s career trajectory.
