Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomandé emerges as top transfer target for Beşiktaş

Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomandé emerges as top transfer target for Beşiktaş

Beşiktaş have set their sights on Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomandé as part of their ambitious plans to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.

Following a disappointing Süper Lig campaign that saw the Istanbul giants finish fourth, the club’s leadership is determined to make bold moves in the transfer market to rebuild a competitive team.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomaç, the Black Eagles are targeting Diomandé, one of the standout performers at Glasgow Rangers last season.

The 23-year-old, who joined Rangers from Danish side FC Nordsjælland just a year ago, enjoyed an impressive debut season in Scotland.

Diomandé featured in 54 matches across all competitions, registering 6 goals and 9 assists, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the Rangers midfield.

His dynamic displays have inevitably attracted interest beyond Scotland, with Beşiktaş now reportedly leading the chase for his signature.

The Turkish club is said to be preparing a €10 million bid to lure the Ivorian international to Istanbul — a figure that underscores their determination to secure his services.

Negotiations between Beşiktaş and Rangers are understood to be underway, although no agreement has been reached at this stage.

Rangers, fully aware of Diomandé’s growing importance to their squad, may be reluctant to sanction his departure given that he remains under contract until June 2028.

Diomandé’s market value is currently estimated at €8 million, according to Transfermarkt, but Beşiktaş appear ready to exceed that valuation to convince the Scottish side to sell.

The midfielder’s combination of creativity, energy, and technical ability has made him an attractive prospect for a Beşiktaş side eager to inject fresh quality into its midfield.

The move reflects Beşiktaş’s broader strategy to bounce back from a turbulent season that fell short of expectations.

The club’s management is keen to avoid a repeat of the underwhelming campaign and views strengthening the midfield as a key priority. Bringing in a player of Diomandé’s calibre is seen as a significant step towards that objective.

For Rangers, the prospect of losing a player who has rapidly become an integral part of their setup presents a challenge.

The Scottish giants will have to weigh the financial benefits of the proposed transfer against the sporting impact of parting ways with a key performer.

While discussions continue, it remains to be seen whether Rangers will be willing to entertain Beşiktaş’s offer or demand a higher fee to reflect Diomandé’s value to the team.

The Turkish club, however, appears determined to push forward in its pursuit, having already initiated contact with both the player’s representatives and the Scottish side.

As the summer transfer window gathers pace, Diomandé’s future hangs in the balance. Whether the Ivorian midfielder will remain in Glasgow or embark on a new chapter in Istanbul will likely be decided in the coming weeks as negotiations unfold. For now, Beşiktaş remain firmly in the hunt, signalling their intent to make a major statement in the market.
