Alexandre Bi Zaouai has officially joined French Ligue 2 side SC Bastia, leaving his native Ivory Coast to begin his first professional experience in European football.

The 20-year-old midfielder, a graduate of the prestigious Jean-Marc Guillou Academy, has signed a four-year contract with the Corsican club, committing his future to Bastia until June 2029.

The move marks a pivotal moment in Zaouai’s career as he takes his first steps onto the European football stage following a breakout season in Ivorian football.

Zaouai arrives from Jeunesse Athlétique Club d’Angré (JAC), where he was one of the standout performers in the Ivorian third division last season.

His contributions were instrumental in helping JAC secure promotion to Ligue 2, earning him recognition as one of the division’s emerging stars.

Known for his elegant technique, rapid decision-making, and sharp vision on the pitch, Zaouai has been widely praised for his creativity in midfield and ability to break down opposition defences.

His balance of technical precision and physical intensity has made him a leading figure among a new wave of talented Ivorian players making their mark on the professional scene.

SC Bastia’s acquisition of Zaouai is seen as part of the club’s broader strategy to invest in youth and untapped international talent. The Ligue 2 outfit, with its rich footballing tradition and passionate fan base, provides a competitive yet nurturing environment—one that could prove ideal for the midfielder’s continued growth.

By relocating to Corsica, Zaouai enters a football culture steeped in intensity and community support. Bastia, one of France’s most iconic clubs outside the top flight, has long been a proving ground for players seeking to establish themselves in European football.

The club is expected to integrate Zaouai gradually into the squad, giving him time to adapt to the tactical and physical demands of French professional football.

Zaouai’s journey began in the ranks of the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy, an institution renowned for producing high-level African talent. It was there that he honed the technical and mental attributes that have come to define his game. His development at the academy laid the foundation for a style characterised by composure on the ball, intelligent movement, and a fearless approach to one-on-one situations.

While his move to Europe represents uncharted territory, Zaouai’s trajectory suggests a player ready for the challenge. The four-year deal reflects Bastia’s belief in his long-term potential, and his performances will be closely watched by both fans and scouts as he adjusts to a new level of competition.

This transfer also highlights the growing influence of Ivorian football exports, with young players increasingly sought after for their technical polish and tactical intelligence. For Zaouai, the move to Bastia is not only a career milestone but also an opportunity to establish himself as a rising figure in African football abroad.

With pre-season underway, Zaouai is expected to join his new teammates immediately as preparations begin for the 2025–26 Ligue 2 campaign.
