Ivorian forward Sebastien Haller handed chance to stay at Dortmund for another season
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering keeping Ivorian striker Sebastien Haller in their team for the 2025/26 football season.
According to sources, manager Niko Kovac is open to working with the striker next season.
Just weeks ago, Haller’s departure from Dortmund seemed almost certain, with the club reportedly keen to offload the striker and his €10 million annual salary.
However, according to German outlet Bild, there has been a shift in the internal discussions regarding the 30-year-old forward.
While the preferred option remains finding a new club for Haller in the coming weeks, Dortmund is also preparing for the possibility of keeping him on if no transfer materialises.
Kovač, who is keen on revitalising the team, reportedly believes Haller still has much to offer.
The Ivorian is said to be in excellent physical condition and has shown strong commitment during pre-season preparations, including at the Club World Cup in the United States.
Despite a challenging few seasons marred by health issues and inconsistent form, Haller still holds the trust of his new coach.
The forward is also open to staying at Dortmund for another season, although some clubs have expressed interest in his services.
