FC Nantes have completed the signing of Ivorian forward Benie Traore on loan from Sheffield United until the end of 2023-24 season, AfricaSoccer.com can confirm
The 21-year-old joins the French Ligue 1 in search of playing minutes. Nantes have the option to sign him permanently after the loan deal.
Traore found the net 24 times (9 assists) in 57 appearances for BK Hacken in the Swedish Allsvenskan in the 2022 campaign.
His 12 goals in 14 games contributed greatly to his Hacken’s very good 3rd place in the Swedish championship.
His performances were noticed and opened new doors for him to sign a four-year contract with Sheffield, then promoted to the English Premier League.
“I’m very proud to be from Nantes! It’s a club that I’ve known since I was little. I’m really happy to be here. Wearing this jersey and discovering Ligue 1 is a challenge for me,” Traore said after completing his move.
“I can’t wait to start in my new colours and show my qualities to help the team. La Beaujoire? I saw it on TV and I can’t wait.”
After a mixed first part of the season where he made just 8 appearances for the Blades, Traore now wants to show the extent of his talent in the Nantes jersey.
