Eli Junior Kroupi has broken Emmanuel Adebayor’s long-standing Ligue 2 goalscoring record, becoming the youngest player to score 11 goals in the competition.
The Ivorian forward achieved the milestone at the age of 18 years and 251 days, surpassing the previous record set by Adebayor, who reached the same tally at 18 years and 339 days in 2003.
Kroupi’s latest goal brings him within one strike of Ligue 2’s current top scorer, Timothée Nkada, with the FC Lorient player continuing to impress in his breakthrough campaign.
The young forward’s prolific form has sparked comparisons with some of the league’s finest talents, and he could further etch his name into the history books by becoming the youngest top scorer in Ligue 2.
Umut Bozok currently holds that record, having claimed the accolade at the age of 21.
With several matches remaining in the season, Kroupi has a chance to rewrite the record books and cement his place among the brightest prospects in French football.
