Ittihad Tangier head coach Hilal Al-Tayyar has conceded that his side faces an uphill task in the 2025/26 Moroccan Botola Pro season.

Tangier were held to a 1-1 draw by Hassania Agadir in their opening fixture at the Stade du Village Sportif de Tanger, a result that highlighted some of the difficulties confronting the club.

“We know this will be a tough and demanding season, especially since we are still playing away from our main stadium,” Al-Tayyar said after the game.

“The team made no signings in the summer transfer window, and there are also lingering issues from previous seasons. But I won’t hide behind excuses—we are ready to embrace the challenge.”

The coach also noted that the format of the competition, including interruptions during the campaign, would make the league unpredictable.

“The Al-Sadd system will add more intensity to the competition. We cannot afford to drop points early, so we must be cautious and make the most of our home matches,” he added.

Ittihad Tangier will next host Olympic Club Safi at the Stade du Village Sportif de Tanger, with kick-off set for 16:00 GMT.
