Ittihad Alexandria secure Egypt defender Mostafa Moawad after Jordan spell

Mostafa Moawad, the 29-year-old Egypt centre-back, has joined Ittihad Alexandria from Al-Wehdat SC, returning to Egyptian football after a season in Jordan.

Moawad has signed a contract with Ittihad Alexandria running until 30 June 2029. The move was completed on 15 August 2026, with the defender switching from the Jordanian Pro League to Egypt’s Premier League.

He leaves Al-Wehdat after making 36 appearances and scoring twice in the Jordanian Pro League during the 2025-26 season. He also featured in the Egypt Cup, the AFC Champions League Two and the Jordan Super Cup, recording two goals in six appearances in the continental competition.

The defender joined Al-Wehdat from Al-Jazeera Club on 1 July 2025, moving on a free transfer. His spell with Al-Jazeera followed a period without a club before he returned to competitive football in January 2025.

Moawad began his senior career with Petrojet after progressing from the club’s under-23 side. He later spent time on loan at Suez SC before joining Qanah, where he played during the 2023-24 season. He moved back into the Egyptian game after his time in Jordan.

Born in Mansoura, Moawad stands 1.83m tall and is predominantly right-footed. He operates primarily at centre-back, adding experience from both Egyptian and Jordanian domestic football to Ittihad Alexandria’s squad.

The switch gives Moawad a return to his home country at the age of 29, following a campaign in which he played regularly for Al-Wehdat across domestic and continental competitions. His new contract keeps him at Ittihad Alexandria through to June 2029.

Moawad has now completed his move from Al-Wehdat SC and is contracted to Ittihad Alexandria until 30 June 2029.
