Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has expressed delight at the return of Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies to training, describing the duo as “like two new signings” for the German champions.
Both players bring African heritage to the squad: Musiala, who represents Germany internationally, has Nigerian roots, while Davies, who plays for Canada, is of Liberian descent. Their comebacks are a significant boost for Bayern ahead of the busy second half of the season.
Musiala has been recovering since October following a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula sustained at the Club World Cup in the United States during a collision with then-PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Kane praised the midfielder’s quality and influence on the team prior to his injury.
“It’s great that he’s back. Even before his first injury at the end of last season, I often thought he was the best player we have on the team. It’s similar with Alphonso Davies. It feels like we’ve signed two valuable new players. I’m very happy that they’re both back,” Kane told Sky Sports Germany.
He added that their return strengthens Bayern’s tactical system: “They play an important role – especially in the system we play. They’re a perfect fit! With their strength in challenges, the way they initiate attacks, and the runs they make.”
“They shouldn’t put too much pressure on themselves… That will certainly take a few more weeks. But we’ll need them even more, especially from February onwards, as we head into the crunch time.”
Musiala completed his first light training session on Monday, marking an important step in his recovery. Bayern manager Vincent Kompany indicated he could feature before the New Year.
“Jamal is close,” Kompany said. “Hopefully next week. But zero pressure on him and the medical team. A few training sessions before Christmas would feel good – and his first minutes on the pitch should follow in January.”
Davies’ return from a nine-month knee injury alongside Musiala gives Bayern renewed energy and options as they prepare for the decisive phase of the season.
