Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has paid tribute to his teammate and long-time friend, Trent Alexander-Arnold, following the defender’s decision to leave Anfield at the end of the season.
The England international announced on Monday that he will not be renewing his contract with the Reds, bringing an end to a remarkable chapter in his career with the club.
Taking to social media platform X, Salah expressed his admiration and fondness for Alexander-Arnold, with whom he has shared the pitch for nearly a decade.
“It’s been a pleasure sharing a special friendship with you and playing alongside you. I wish you the best and I am sure we will meet again,” the Egyptian international wrote.
The post drew significant attention from Liverpool fans, many of whom have lauded the duo’s chemistry on the right flank.
Salah’s message also comes just weeks after he signed a new contract with Liverpool, choosing to extend his stay despite speculation about his own future earlier in the year.
Alexander-Arnold, who has been widely regarded as one of the top full-backs in world football, has been strongly linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Reports suggest that the La Liga side made an offer for the 26-year-old shortly before the January transfer window opened. However, no deal was finalised at the time.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold progressed through the club’s academy system and made his senior debut in 2016.
Over the years, he played a central role in one of the most successful periods in Liverpool’s modern history, helping the team win two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
