Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has paid tribute to Jamie Vardy, describing it as both a “privilege and a pleasure” to have played alongside the iconic striker.
Vardy, 38, is set to leave the club at the end of the season, bringing an end to a remarkable 13-year stint with the Foxes.
Speaking to ShowMax, Ndidi expressed his admiration for the veteran forward, who joined Leicester from non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012.
“It’s been an honour. It’s been a pleasure to be a teammate with Jamie Vardy,” Ndidi said. “Even after football, you’d be like, oh, I played with Jamie Vardy. I feel like it’s a privilege and a pleasure to play alongside him.”
Vardy is widely regarded as one of Leicester’s greatest-ever players. The former England international holds the club’s record for Premier League goals with 143 and has scored 198 times in 498 matches across all competitions.
His 24-goal haul in the 2015-16 season was instrumental in Leicester’s stunning Premier League title triumph, one of the greatest shocks in English football history.
Reflecting on Vardy’s resilience and influence, Ndidi continued, “He’s really, really strong. I admire him. It’s been a couple of great, great years with him. Ups and downs, but he’s still Jamie Vardy.”
Vardy, who also lifted the FA Cup with Leicester in 2021, is expected to continue his playing career beyond the King Power Stadium, despite the Foxes hailing him as “our greatest ever player” in their farewell announcement.
