Mateus Mane, of Guinean heritage, has signed his first professional contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers, marking a significant step in his development at the Premier League club.
The promising teenager, who has been eligible to represent both England and Portugal at youth level, has previously been called up by both countries.
His decision to remain at Wolves and commit his future despite interest from other Premier League sides underlines the club’s faith in his potential.
“It’s an amazing feeling for me, my family, my friends – everyone. I’ve been working the whole time for this and now it’s happened, I’m really proud of myself and I’m really happy,” Mane told the club’s official website.
“A lot of work has gone into getting to this stage, because I came from a non-league club and to get a professional contract at a Premier League club, it’s a dream come true.
“But now it’s happened, I’ve just got to keep working and keep working to try and get that next contract and become a better player every day.”
Mane joined Wolves earlier this year and made an immediate impact in the U18 Premier League, scoring two goals and providing two assists in just three appearances.
The club is confident he can become a future first-team asset as he continues his development.
