Barcelona vice president Rafa Yuste has slammed La Liga over the decision to hand French-Cameroonian star Kylian Mbappe just a game ban after red card incident at the weekend.
Mbappe was sent off in Real Madrid’s La Liga clash against Deportivo Alaves on Sunday following a reckless tackle on Antonio Blanco.
Referee Soto Grado had initially shown Mbappe a yellow card in the 38th-minute before a Video Assistant Referee review led to a straight red card.
Despite being down to ten men for a larger part of the match, the Spanish giants managed to snatch a 1-0 victory over Alaves.
However, Rafa Yuste has described La Liga’s decision as disgraceful, as he believes the former PSG star should have faced a severe punishment.
“A one-match suspension for Mbappe? It’s a disgrace, a complete absurdity. He could have caused a serious injury. If one of our players had done that, and they wouldn’t, because our guys are honest players, I don’t know what would have happened to them. It’s unfair.”
Kylian Mbappe will miss Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao.
