Italian-Ivorian striker Moise Kean diagnosed with head trauma after collapsing during Serie A match

Fiorentina forward Moise Kean has been hospitalized on Sunday following a harrowing collapse during a Serie A clash against Hellas Verona.

Medical staff confirmed the 24-year-old Italian striker of Ivorian descent sustained head trauma after falling unconscious twice on the pitch, prompting urgent concerns for his well-being.

The incident occurred during the second half when Kean collided with Verona defenders Pawel Dawidowicz and Diego Coppola near the sideline.

The violent impact left Kean with a deep laceration above his eyebrow, forcing an immediate stoppage in play.

Team medics rushed to treat the bleeding wound, wrapping his head in a protective bandage before clearing him to return minutes later.

However, moments after resuming play, Kean collapsed again, lying motionless on the turf as players frantically called for emergency assistance.

Medical personnel stabilized the former Juventus star with a neck brace before transporting him off the field via stretcher in the 67th minute.

Substitute Nicolo Fagioli took his place while Kean was rushed to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

Fiorentina later released a statement confirming Kean suffered head trauma and remains under observation. The club emphasized the gravity of the injury, noting protocols for such incidents were strictly followed.

The scene drew eerie parallels for midfielder Edoardo Bove, who watched from the stands weeks after his own medical emergency during a match against Inter Milan.

Bove, who survived a cardiac arrest in December, spent 12 days hospitalized and now plays with an implanted defibrillator.

Kean, born in Italy to parents from Côte d’Ivoire, has risen through Italy’s national team ranks while maintaining strong ties to his African roots.

The match resumed after the delay, ending in a 1-1 draw, though the result was overshadowed by concerns over player safety and Kean’s condition.
