Italian outfit AS Roma has one big problem to face in their chase for Ivory Coast international Franck Kessie.
The Serie A outfit are keen on strengthening their squad for the 2025/26 football campaign, and the former Barcelona star, who currently plies his trade for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia has been offered to the club.
Negotiations between Roma and the former AC Milan midfielder has already taken place, given his previous experience under Gasperini, who is known for his distinctive coaching style and commitment to tactical roles on the field.
However, Roma face an obstacle in their pursuit for the winger. Kessie’s current salary is too high for the Italian club’s capabilities, making it extremely difficult to complete the deal.
This discrepancy in financial valuation raises questions about Kessie’s potential return to Serie A, despite the club’s desire to sign him. It remains unclear whether the player will return to Italy.
Kessie joined Al Ahli on August 9, 2023, with a contract extending until June 30, 2026. The player’s current market value is approximately €14 million, reflecting his significant technical value on the field.
Overall, Kessie is one of the key players relied upon by German Matthias Jaissle, the coach of Al Ahly’s first football team.
