‘It was a great five years’ – Tunisian defender Hamza Mathlouthi bids emotional farewell to Zamalek

Hamza Mathlouthi

Tunisian defender Hamza Mathlouthi has penned an emotional farewell message to Zamalek SC after confirming that he is leaving the club.

The versatile full-back signed for the Egyptian giants in 2020 in a move from CS Sfaxien.

At the end of the 2024/25 football season, the defender is leaving Zamalek SC to embrace a new challenge.

In a heartfelt partying message to the club, Hamza Mathlouthi said that although the journey was not easy, his five-year stay at the club was great.

“The journey wasn’t easy, but it was a great five years during which I wore the Zamalek jersey with honor, fought for this club, and was part of unforgettable moments, during which we raised trophies and celebrated with great fans who know nothing but love and belonging,” Hamza Mathlouthi said in a post on Instagram.

He continued: “I thank the club’s management, the technical and medical staff, all the workers, and everyone who believed in me and stood by me. I also thank my teammates who were a true support on and off the field, and most importantly, I thank the great Zamalek fans… You are the spirit and the motivation, and I will never forget your cheers, your support, and your presence at every moment.”

Hamza Mathlouthi has yet to decide on his next move but is reportedly a transfer target for a few clubs in Tunisia.
