Issa Soumaré of Le Havre AC has sealed a loan deal with AJ Auxerre for the remainder of the Ligue 2 season. The decision, officially confirmed on Friday, January 12, underscores Soumaré’s commitment to bolstering his performance in the second tier of French football.
The 23-year-old Senegalese winger found playing opportunities scarce with Le Havre AC in Ligue 1 during the current season.
In light of this, Soumaré, who featured in seven Ligue 1 matches with Le Havre, is set to embark on a new chapter with AJ Auxerre.
The loan agreement, spanning the last six months of the ongoing football season, does not include a purchase option, as clarified by AJ Auxerre.
Soumaré’s arrival at AJ Auxerre marks a notable shift as he transitions from Ligue 1 to Ligue 2.
The winger, who joined Le Havre AC in July 2023 from Belgium’s Beerschot, brings a wealth of experience to the AJ Auxerre lineup. Having previously undergone loan stints in Ligue 2 with Quevilly-Rouen Métropole, Soumaré is no stranger to the challenges and dynamics of the second division.
The former Génération Foot standout, who also had a stint with US Orléans, brings a total of 70 Ligue 2 matches to his credit.
As Soumaré sets his sights on making a significant impact with AJ Auxerre, the loan move offers a promising opportunity for both the player and the club to collaborate towards shared success in the competitive landscape of Ligue 2.
