Ismaily captain Abdullah Mohamed has been involved in a road traffic accident while travelling with his family and his brother, Youssef, who is also a defender at the club.

The Egyptian club announced the incident on its official social media page, identifying Abdullah Mohamed as the captain of their first team. The statement said the player was accompanied by members of his family and his younger brother when the accident occurred.

Ismaily’s management committee contacted Abdullah Mohamed and his family after learning of the accident to check on their wellbeing. The club also instructed its medical staff to carry out all the necessary examinations on the player and his brother.

No further details about the circumstances of the accident were included in the club’s announcement.

The incident comes shortly after Ismaily began their Professional League campaign with a defeat. They were beaten 3-1 by Masar in their opening match of the competition, with Ismaily scoring once in response to their opponents’ three goals.

Abdullah Mohamed plays at centre-back and wears the captain’s armband for Ismaily. The 23-year-old came through the club’s youth system before being promoted to the first team.

He made 33 appearances for Ismaily in all competitions last season and scored two goals. His involvement extended across the club’s campaign as they eventually suffered relegation after finishing bottom of the relegation group in the league.

Youssef, Abdullah Mohamed’s brother, is also part of Ismaily’s defensive ranks and is regarded as a young defender within the club’s first-team set-up. The club’s decision to arrange medical checks for both players followed direct contact with the family after the accident.

Abdullah Mohamed remains an important figure for Ismaily, combining his role in central defence with responsibility as team captain. His experience within the squad has come despite his age, having progressed through the club’s academy before establishing himself with the senior side.

Ismaily are now beginning life in the Professional League after last season’s relegation. Their campaign started with the loss to Masar, and the club’s latest update about Abdullah Mohamed and Youssef means attention will now be focused on the results of the medical examinations arranged by the club’s medical department.
