Ismail Saibari addresses controversy and reaffirms commitment to Morocco
Morocco international Ismail Saibari has moved to address recent controversy surrounding his social media activity, insisting his commitment to the national team remains unchanged.
The midfielder spoke out after an online reaction to an interaction on Instagram, which drew criticism from some supporters.
Seeking to clarify the situation, Saibari explained that the incident was unintentional and did not reflect his feelings towards representing Morocco.
“To clarify everything that has happened these past few days, I accidentally liked a photo on Instagram without paying attention.
I understand the anger of some people, but this does not diminish the love and devotion I have for Morocco.”
The response comes amid heightened attention on players’ conduct off the pitch, particularly during key periods in the international calendar.
Saibari’s statement aimed to reassure supporters that his focus remains firmly on his responsibilities with the national side.
In addition to addressing the misunderstanding, the Moroccan international raised concerns about the reaction that followed, particularly the impact on those close to him.
He called for restraint and respect, emphasising that his family should not be drawn into the situation.
“Families shouldn’t be insulted because they have nothing to do with any of this. Let’s focus on what really matters, which is the upcoming World Cup, and stay united to achieve our dream.”
Saibari also used the opportunity to highlight the importance of unity within the national team and its supporters, especially with major competitions on the horizon.
His message underscored a desire to move beyond the incident and concentrate on collective goals.
As Morocco continue preparations for upcoming challenges, including the World Cup, the midfielder’s comments reflect an effort to restore focus within the camp.
By addressing the issue directly, Saibari sought to draw a line under the controversy and reaffirm his dedication to the team.
The episode has drawn attention to the pressures faced by international players, both on and off the pitch, but Saibari’s stance makes clear his intention to remain committed to Morocco’s ambitions.
