Moroccan international Ismael Saibari has officially been named among the five finalists for the prestigious Eredivisie Player of the Year award.

The 25-year-old midfielder earned the nomination following an outstanding campaign with PSV Eindhoven, where he has delivered the most productive season of his career.

Saibari Enjoying Career-Best Season

Saibari has emerged as one of PSV’s most influential players during the 2025/26 season, registering 19 goals and nine assists across all competitions.

His consistent performances in crucial matches have made him a vital part of PSV’s title-winning squad and strengthened his reputation as one of the top midfielders in Dutch football.

The Moroccan star’s impact throughout the campaign has helped him secure a regular place in the starting lineup while playing a key role in PSV’s successful Eredivisie title challenge.

Strong Competition For Top Award

By making the shortlist for the second consecutive year, Saibari has once again been recognised among the elite performers in the Netherlands.

The final shortlist also includes his PSV teammate Joey Veerman, Ajax Amsterdam youngster Mika Godts, NEC Nijmegen midfielder Tjaronn Chery, and SC Heerenveen attacker Jacob Trenskow.

The Eredivisie Player of the Year award is regarded as the highest individual honour in Dutch football.

Moroccan Influence At PSV Continues To Grow

PSV’s successful 2026 Eredivisie title campaign was heavily influenced by Moroccan talent, with Saibari playing alongside fellow Moroccan players Couhaib Driouech and Anas Salah-Eddine.

Saibari joined PSV in July 2020 from the youth academy of KRC Genk. After initially featuring for the club’s U21 side, he quickly progressed into the senior team and has since become one of the club’s standout performers.

The winner of the Eredivisie Player of the Season award will be announced during a ceremony scheduled for May 25.
