Lille are reportedly weighing up a move for highly rated SC Cambuur centre-back Ismaël Baouf, with the teenager emerging as a potential defensive target for the Ligue 1 club.

The 19-year-old, who holds both Moroccan and Belgian nationality, is being linked with a switch from the Dutch Keuken Kampioen Divisie to the French top flight, according to transfer data compiled on 20 December 2025. The likelihood of the move has not been quantified, with the reported probability listed only as “?”.

Baouf’s current market value is estimated at €1.40m, a figure that has doubled since October, and Lille are understood to be monitoring that rise closely as they assess whether to step up their interest. With no contract expiry information listed for the defender at Cambuur, observers have also noted the possibility that his situation could develop towards a free-agent scenario if no new deal is formalised.

Born in Charleroi on 17 September 2006, Baouf came through the youth ranks at R Charleroi SC before moving to RSC Anderlecht’s under-18 side in 2022. He progressed into RSCA Futures in Belgium’s second tier, then left for Cambuur in the Netherlands ahead of the 2025–26 season. His market value there climbed from €700,000 to €1.40m by mid-December, underlining the speed of his development.

A right-footed, 1.83m defender who operates primarily at centre-back, Baouf wears the number 4 shirt for Cambuur and has built a reputation as a modern, ball-playing option at the back. Any move to Lille would mark his first experience of Ligue 1, and a significant jump from the Dutch second division.

If Lille decide to act on their interest, a transfer could offer Baouf a major platform to accelerate his career and strengthen his reputation across both Moroccan and Belgian football circles.
