A significant disruption unfolded in the German football scene as fans halted the match between Eintracht Frankfurt, boasting Egyptian international Omar Marmoush, and Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
The game between Frankfurt and Freiburg kicked off at 4:30 pm Cairo time at the Europa Park stadium.
Marmoush showcased his prowess by netting a goal for Frankfurt in the 27th minute of the first half, adding to the intensity of the match.
He also played a crucial role in assisting his team’s second goal, scored by Knauf.
However, the match was abruptly interrupted due to protests from the fans.
This disruption stems from a decision made by 24 out of 36 clubs in the German league’s first and second divisions in December last year.
The decision aimed to attract foreign investment to enhance the league’s marketing gains, particularly beyond national borders.
This move has sparked widespread anger among fans, leading to protests during league matches.
Supporters have raised banners and thrown objects onto the pitch, resulting in the suspension of several matches.
