International Friendly: Zimbabwe stun Qatar with a 2-1 win in Doha
Zimbabwe put up a spirited performance on Monday afternoon to secure a 2-1 win over Qatar in their international friendly match played in Doha.
The Warriors showed determination throughout the match, recovering from an early setback before securing a memorable result against the two-time Asian champions.
Qatar started brightly and were rewarded in the 9th minute when Mohamed Gouda opened the scoring. Zimbabwe responded with persistence, pushing forward repeatedly until Munashe Garananga found the equaliser in the 24th minute.
The match remained tightly contested for the rest of the half, with both sides heading into the break locked at 1-1.
The second half continued with high intensity as both teams battled for control. Zimbabwe grew stronger as the game progressed and finally took the lead in the 74th minute when Bill Antonio finished off a well-worked move.
Qatar mounted late pressure in search of another goal, but the Warriors held firm to protect their advantage.
