Interior Club has greenlit the departure of Hossam Shaaban from his role as the head coach, paving the way for him to assume the coaching responsibilities at Iraq’s Al-Karkh Club.
Earlier reports from FilGoal.com indicated that Shaaban had received an offer from Al-Karkh Club in Iraq to lead the team in the upcoming period.
Subsequently, it has been confirmed that Shaaban held discussions with Interior Club officials who have consented to his departure.
The newly appointed head coach for Interior Club will be Amr Hassan, currently serving as the assistant coach, stepping into his first role as the head coach in the Egyptian Premier League.
The Iraqi league is currently on hiatus due to the AFC Asian Cup and is set to resume on February 10th.
Al-Karkh Club is battling to secure its position in the Iraqi league after a faltering start in the initial 12 rounds.
Currently occupying the sixteenth spot with 11 points, they find themselves in a precarious situation, just goal difference away from the relegation zone.
The Iraqi league consists of 20 teams, with the bottom four facing relegation to the second division. Al-Karkh has struggled, managing only two victories in the 12 rounds played thus far.
Shaaban becomes the third Egyptian coach this season to lead a team in the Iraqi league, following in the footsteps of Hossam El-Badry (Al-Zawraa) and Hamza El-Gamal (Al-Najaf).
Meanwhile, Interior Club currently stands seventeenth, second to last in the Egyptian Premier League with seven points.
Hossam Shaaban took over as the head coach for Interior Club starting from the seventh round, overseeing five league matches, which resulted in three draws and two losses.
In the League Cup, Interior secured a victory against Ismaily but suffered a defeat against Enppi under Shaaban’s leadership.
