Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta has not dismissed the possibility of signing Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, whose contract situation is progressing slowly.
The 32-year-old Egyptian, who is enjoying another outstanding season with Liverpool, has been instrumental in his team’s success, netting 32 goals and providing 22 assists in 45 appearances.
Despite the challenges of this being manager Arne Slot’s first season, Liverpool is within reach of securing the title, needing only 11 points from their remaining seven games.
However, Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain as contract talks have stalled.
He is set to enter the final months of his deal, and he will be free to negotiate with other clubs in May.
Several top European clubs are reportedly interested in securing his signature, and Marotta has indicated that Inter Milan could be one of them.
Speaking to Sky, Marotta explained that while they are considering various options, including Marseille striker Luis Henrique, Salah remains a player of interest.
“He’s a good player like many others in our notebooks,” Marotta stated.
“(Directors) Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin are very active like our scouts and they will move at the right time. For now, however, it’s still early.”
Marotta also spoke about the club’s broader transfer strategy, emphasizing the need to balance youth with experience.
“You need precise characteristics to build a winning team: young players, veterans, and an Italian backbone you must safeguard,” he said.
“We’re searching for different profiles. We wish to make the squad younger to lower the payroll, but we don’t turn up our noses at the chance of signing experienced footballers.”
