Moroccan international Ismael Saibari suffered an injury during his team’s match against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League yesterday, facing Borussia Dortmund, in the first leg of the round of 16, the nature and severity of which have yet to be determined.
Saibari appeared in the final minutes of the game visibly affected by knee pain, prompting him to leave the field in the 83rd minute, making way for his teammate, Mauro Júnior.
It is expected that Saibari will undergo thorough examinations in the coming hours to assess the severity of the injury and determine if it will sideline him for upcoming matches.
The curse of injuries has struck several players of the Moroccan national team, who will enter a preparatory camp in March.
Among them is Nacer Mazraoui, suffering from a muscle tear in his left thigh, as well as the duo Hakim Ziyech and Sofiane Boufal, who are still recovering from injuries sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Moroccan national football team is set to face their Angolan counterparts on Friday, March 22nd, at the Grand Stadium in Agadir.
Additionally, another match will pit the “Atlas Lions” against the Mauritanian national team at the same venue on Tuesday, March 26th.
