Nigerian forward Nathan Tella has been ruled out of Bayer Leverkusen’s UEFA Champions League clash against FC Copenhagen on Thursday night.

The player will miss the game as a result of a knee injury.

The 26-year-old picked up a knee injury during Leverkusen’s 3-1 Bundesliga victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and subsequently missed the team’s final training session ahead of the trip to Denmark.

According to Bild, the setback has ruled him out of the matchday squad.

Despite Tella’s absence, Bayer Leverkusen still has attacking options to call on, including Eliesse Ben Seghir, Ibrahim Maza, and Claudio Echeverri.

There was, however, some positive news for the Werkself. Defender Jeanuël Belocian has been named in the squad for the first time since suffering a cruciate ligament tear in January, providing a welcome boost as Leverkusen begin their European campaign.

The clash between FC Copenhagen and Bayer Leverkusen is scheduled to kick off at 4:45 pm tomorrow.
