Seydou Keita Joins AS Roma, Reflects on Illustrious Career
Malian midfielder Seydou Keita has signed for AS Roma, marking a new chapter in his distinguished career. Although this will be only his fourth league, Keita has already represented six professional clubs across Europe and Asia, including Marseille, Sevilla, Barcelona, and Dalian Aerbin in China.
Keita’s most decorated period came during his time in Spain. At Sevilla, he won the Spanish Super Cup and the European Super Cup, before moving on to Barcelona where he enjoyed unprecedented success. The year 2009 was particularly historic for Keita, as he secured six major trophies with the Catalan giants: the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, European Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup — a feat unmatched in football history.
Reflecting on his achievements, Keita shared a photo on Twitter this Wednesday showing his collection of trophies proudly displayed in his living room. Accompanying the image, he wrote: “In the end, it’s always the titles that count and I pray to God to give me the chance to win more.”
With 17 collective titles to his name, Seydou Keita stands as the most successful Malian footballer in history, a testament to his talent and dedication on the pitch.
