Nigeria international Umar Sadiq has shared his excitement after securing a permanent move to Spanish outfit Valencia in the current transfer window.
Sadiq has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the Mestalla until 2028. The move follows his loan spell with Valencia during the second half of last season, where he impressed enough to convince the club to make the deal permanent.
During his time at Valencia in the 2024/25 season, Sadiq made 19 appearances and scored 6 goals, convincing the management to pursue a full transfer.
Following his unveiling, the 28-year-old forward has expressed his joy, describing the move as a dream fulfilled after months of anticipation.
“I’m very excited and happy. I’ve been waiting since last summer and, finally, I’m here,” Sadiq said.
“I’m the happiest guy in the world. I wanted to come back here; I’ve done everything possible. The club has also made the greatest possible effort. I’m very happy to return.
“Valencia CF is one of the biggest clubs in Spain, and you can feel it in the culture and the people: they never abandon the club.”
Before switching to Valencia, Sadiq made seven appearances in the current season for Real Sociedad, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists.
With this move, the Nigeria attacker will be hoping to regain their form in order to prove his worth at the club, having enjoyed an impressive loan spell.
The forward was initially named in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but missed out on the final squad for the tournament due to an injury setback.
