Idrissa Gana Gueye says he is “proud” to extend his stay at Everton after signing a new contract that keeps him at the club until June 2026, with a further year option.
The veteran midfielder, who is set to begin his seventh season as a Blue, described the club as more than just a workplace, calling it a part of his identity.
Gueye, 34, rejoined Everton from Paris Saint-Germain in 2022, having first signed for the club in 2016.
He has since become a key figure both on and off the pitch, admired for his work ethic, leadership, and consistency in midfield.
Speaking to evertonfc.com after signing his new deal, the Senegal international said: “Everyone knows what Everton means to me and my family. After six seasons here, this club is more than just a place I play, it’s part of who I am.”
Gueye added that he feels physically and mentally prepared for the challenges ahead, following a strong personal campaign last season.
“I’m proud to start my seventh year as a Blue. I feel ready, fresh, and more driven than ever to keep pushing,” he said.
Looking ahead, he believes Everton are entering a pivotal phase, especially with the club’s move to a new stadium on the horizon.
“This season feels like a turning point, the chance to build something big and lasting,” Gueye noted. “We’ve got the foundations. Now it’s up to us… to raise the bar again and take Everton back to where it belongs.”
Gueye also reaffirmed his commitment to the club’s vision, calling on everyone connected to Everton to play their part.
“I’m fully committed to that challenge. Let’s go again. Together.”
